Tanu Weds Manu Review

Cast: R Madhavan, Kangna Ranaut, Jimmy Sheirgill, Deepak Dobriyal, Eijaz Khan
Direction: Anand L. Rai
Genre: Romance
Duration: 2 hours

Tanu Weds Manu – a really controversial film, isn’t it? Yes the first thing that strikes us about this film is that, it does have a striking familiarity with Jab We Met.

This film is quite a remake of Jab We Met–the storyline is basically the same. Madhavan, a NRI doctor based in London, comes to India looking for a bride ands gets smitten with Kangna, who lives with her extended clan in Kanpur.

Madhavan wants to get married with this girl. But there’s a real problem. Kangna is in love with a goonda, from Lucknow, who threatens Madhavan with dire consequences if he does not withdraw from the marriage. Madhavan (a total loser) does not only stop the marriage but also does his best to get Kangna married to her boy friend( I told you he is a loser).

Although the film in itself is quite boring, watching Kangna decide who is a better husband material –Madhavan or her goonda boyfriend, the film does manageto get you involved with its beautiful cityscapes. The director along with his crew has been able to capture Kanpur, in its real variety, which almost starts living on the screen, with its narrow lanes and alleys. The film’s messed up love story between Madhavan and Kangna does not attract viewers as much as does enemity between Madhavan and Jimmy (Kangna’s goonda boy friend) over the girl. Although its not really understandable why Kangna falls for Madhavan who is not half as smart or stylish or good looking as Jimm, the hero’s love and luster prevails in the end (as is always the case).

The director quite skillfully creates a brimming and colorful backdrop for the film, which would have worked better given a neatier storyline and a less screwed up climax.

Review of ‘Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji’

Dil To Baacha Hai JeeThis movie is not a slapstick comedy. It is sensible, logical and different. It is a very simple film that talks about normal people life and their problems. This is the first comedy movie of Madhur Bhandarkar.

Director – Madhur Bhandarkar
Cast – Ajay Devgan, Emran Hashmi, Omi Vaidya, Shazahn Padamsee, Shruti Haasan and Shraddha Das.

This film, ‘Dil to Bachcha Hai Ji’, explores child within every man, and also explores in humorous way the psyche of the men that men never grow up. This film has been produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Madhur Bhandarkar both.

The Story of the film revolves around three men Naren, Abhay and Milind and how they find their love. And the whole film has a light hearted romantic comedy. Ajay Devgan plays a role of Naren, Imran Hashmi plays character of Abhay and Omi Vaidya plays role of Milind.

The first half of the film is filled with light moments and in second half some twists and turns crops up. This film ‘Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji’ carries a tagline “Love grows… Men don’t”.

The Milind Kelkar is a Marathi manoos with four years experience of London. Ajay Devgan has the story only that makes sense. His marriage is like an overused “chewing gum, has gone pale, stale; you can’t swallow it, neither can you throw it away”. So he is in for a divorce. In the meantime he falls for a girl at work, who is 17 years younger only. Emraan Hashmi brings hope to the Indian man with every film. Skirt chasing is his hobby in the film. His current tight squeeze Tisca Chopra is a socialite, married to old money; into ‘young boys’ like him.
